What does a wedding planner actually do?

  • Frames the project: vision, budget, priorities, schedule.
  • Finds and negotiates: venues, caterer, florist, photographer, musicians.
  • Designs the scenography: seating plans, decor, lighting atmosphere.
  • Coordinates suppliers and guests until the last dance.
  • Handles the unexpected without you ever noticing.

Is a wedding planner worth it?

In a prestige wedding, expertise costs… and pays for itself. An experienced planner knows real prices, avoids duplicates and contractual traps, and often obtains better terms from suppliers they have worked with for years. Above all, they save you a considerable amount of time: it is often estimated that a wedding takes several hundred hours of planning.

How to choose your wedding planner?

  1. Look at their portfolio: do their creations resemble you? (see our gallery)
  2. Check their experience with your type of wedding (destination, kosher, large capacity…).
  3. Ask for a detailed quote and a clear contract.
  4. Meet them: chemistry matters as much as the rate.
  5. Ask for references from couples or partner venues.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average rate of a wedding planner?

Expect €1,500 to €4,000 for day-of coordination and around 10 to 15% of the budget for full planning, depending on the city and the level of service.

What is the difference between day-of coordination and full planning?

Day-of coordination supervises the day itself from a project that is already prepared. Full planning takes charge of the whole project, from concept to the last guest, including budget, suppliers and scenography.

When should you hire a wedding planner?

Ideally 12 to 18 months before the date for a prestige wedding, to secure the best venues and suppliers. Coordination alone can be decided 3 to 6 months ahead.

Does a wedding planner save you money?

Often yes: thanks to negotiated rates, no duplicates and the avoidance of costly mistakes, their fees are frequently offset in whole or in part.
